Product Review of Fage Greek Yogurt - Greek yogurt is truly unlike any other yogurt available. It is so unique that it has its own category in the food industry. From the first glance at the rich and creamy Fage Greek yogurt, I was sold. Read on to find out what is so great about Fage Greek yogurt and what makes this dairy product a healthy snack.

Texture

The first thing that catches your attention when you open a container of Fage is not the plastic coating, but the dense and rich texture of the product.

It looks more like creme fresh than a low-fat product.

The texture in your mouth is just as smooth as you imagine it will be when you first open the low-fat product. The yogurt is light, yet has a sense of richness about it.

The Fage 2% is "strained," which probably accounts for its texture.

Taste

The flavor I tried was the 2%, unflavored. I wanted to see how the plain tasted on its own, without the addition of any fruit or syrups. The yogurt is the best plain yogurt I have ever tasted.

It is even better than my all-time favorite yogurt, made by Stonyfield Farms.

It does leave sort of an almost sour pucker in your mouth, which may remind you of sour cream.

Ingredients in Fage

it contains a minimal number of ingredients including skimmed milk and cream, and two live, active yogurt cultures. That's it. There are no other ingredients.

Flavors of Fage

The Fage product comes in the following levels of fat content: Fage Total Classic, Fage Total 0%, Fage Total 2%, and Fage Total 5%. These are all plain.

Fruited flavors include Strawberry, Cherry, and Peach. There is also Honey, and Honey with Walnuts.

As for the fruited flavors and the honey flavors, they may be good, but add them yourself. Buy the plain version and get more Greek yogurt for your money.

Artificial or Natural?

Fage Total 2% Yogurt is all natural.

Fage: Nutritionally

After tasting this low-fat product (the Fage 2%) you will not believe that it only has four grams of fat.

It has a healthy percentage of protein, at 17 grams, and only 8 grams of carbohydrates (all sugar). The sodium is also reasonable at 65%. Cholesterol is also good in this low-fat product, at 10 mg per serving.

Fage is OK, but if you're ever in Greece, definitely try Noy Noy or Olympos. The first has the absolute best texture, the second is close. They rock the socks off Fage. I make my own, it's not too difficult. Tsatsiki wouldn't be the same without it.

I've never seen this. It sounds wonderful though.

I've never tried Greek (or any other kind of) yogurt.

I've not tried this brand of Greek yogurt. In Greek households, it is often eaten as a savoury item in much the same way as you would add a dollop of mayonnaise or ketchup to your plate. Sophie
