How to Open a Photo in Paint.Net
To open a photo, go to the top of your window and click File > Open. When the window opens, locate the photo that you want to use. Click the photo and click the Open button. You can also click the icon at the top of your window that looks like a yellow folder opened. That will bring up the window for you to locate your photo.
How to Save a File in Paint.Net
Go to the top of your window and click File > Save As. Type a name for your photo in the window that opens. Then click the Save button. To continue saving changes to your photo, click File > Save. You can also press CTRL S on your keyboard to save your photo.
How to Create a New Layer in Paint.Net
At the top of your Paint.Net window you will see Layers. Click Layers > Add New Layer to add a new layer to work on. You will use layers when you are adding text and different things to your photo.
How to Import a Photo in Paint.Net
To import a photo, go to the top of your window and click Layer > Add New Layer. Then click Layer > Import From File. Locate the photo that you want to import and double click it.
How to Crop a Photo in Paint.Net
Open the photo that you want to crop. Select the Square Marquee Tool or the Circle Marquee Tool and draw the shape over the part of the photo that you want to keep. Then go to the top and click Image > Crop to Selection.
How to Resize a Photo in Paint.Net
To resize a photo, open the photo that you want to resize. Go to the top of your window and click Image > Resize. Enter your new measurements in the box that opens. Click the OK button to resize the photo.

To resize your canvas in Paint.Net, go to the top of your window and click Image > Canvas Resize. Enter the new canvas size in the box that opens. Click OK to resize your canvas.
