The bright sun dips under the clouds, the fishermen cast their last cast, and the women

flocked into the houses...

The children roughed and played their made-up games that had no particular outcome or set of rules. They laughed gleefully, their young faces innocent of responsibility or care for important aspects of living. They had no true purpose other than to complicate or hinder existence. Yet their presence was demanded in every village that was scattered across the valley. The mothers of these children beckoned to them and immediately they obeyed running into the affectionate arms of their giver of life. Some of the fishermen were fathers and once to the door of the thatched-roof huts; the men would kiss their younglings and ruffle their hair. Although their happiness would not last, because ignorance is not bliss; ignorance can be fatal if given the right situation.

Their lives were perfect; hindrances were irrelevant, and life could never be ruined. Though this thought filled the minds of every villager, they were blissfully unaware of the evil that was spawned centuries ago. While the families laughed gleefully and went about their daily routines; this evil slowly awakened from its deep slumber. In the depths of the lake this monster began to move after decades of solitude and stillness. But what awakened the monster from its slumber? It would take the minds of every able soul in the village to figure the mystery before the reaper made his appointment. The night fell and rose like a feather on the wind and it was peaceful; all the villagers had slept soundlessly.
