Visualizations are one of the fun features in any music playing program for computers. Another fun thing are laser light shows. Now you can make your own laser that reacts to the music you play.

You will need the following:

A USB speaker that can lay so the speaker is upwards and that can be used for this one purpose.

A laser light.

An old CD that can be broken and cut.

A pair of scissors.

A rubber (latex) glove

A container, such as a plastic coffee tin, that directly fits over the speaker

A rubber band

Some super glue

An exacto knife

A glue stick

This is how you do it:

Cut the rubber glove to make a membrane that fits over the top of your container. If your container has a lid, remove it. Using the exacto knife, cut a hole in the bottom of your container so that it is just slightly bigger than the speaker.

Put the membrane over the top of your container. Use a rubber band to secure the membrane to the top of your container. Pull the edges of the membrane through the rubber band so the surface is taut on top.

Cut a small square section out of an old CD. This should be between two and three centimeters square. Cover the non-shiny side of the CD with glue from the glue stick. Then stick on the membrane, right in the center.

Cut the coat hanger and bend it so it can go around your container. It also needs to be able to go up the side and hold the laser pointer. The main reason for the coat hanger is to make a holder for the laser pointer.

Bend the hanger so it can easily hold the laser pointer in place. Then, bend the hanger so the laser pointer is shining onto the small mirror that was made from the CD.

Lay the speaker down on a flat surface. Put super glue on the bottom of the container. Then glue it over the speaker. Let the glue dry.

Once the glue is dry, plug the USB speaker into the USB port on a computer or a laptop. Adjust the stand so the laser pointer is directed toward the mirror and the reflection can be seen on the ceiling.

Start the music on your computer. Turn off the lights and watch the laser pointer's reflection on the ceiling. It will be making designs in reaction to the music.
