To often do we hear about kids who have become addicted to drugs or alcohol and end up in a rehabilitation center before they even reach their eighteenth birthday. As parents, we often look for answers to knowing. We pry into their lives and not because we are nosey but because we want to know if our children are in any danger. There are certain clues that you can look for to tell if your child is engaging in any acts with drugs or alcohol.

Before you know what clues to look for, you must know your child. If you don't know your child the way that you think you should, find someone who is closer to them. Be aware that most children will not share information like this for fear that they would cause the other child to become angry. Clues are vital information on knowing if your child is taking drugs or alcohol.

What clues should I look for?

A change in behavior is a great clue that you should watch out for. Even though this is one of the clues, do not confuse it with hormones. Children will often change their behavior from time to time but the best way to know if their behavior is due to drugs or alcohol is to watch for other clues.

There is usually a drop in grades for children who are experimenting. People tend to not care about the important things when they are doing drugs or drinking alcohol. There have also been studies done that determined the loss of brain cells due to certain drugs and alcohol. A loss of memory is also another clue to watch out for.

They will hardly be interested in family activities or hanging out with their old friends. They long to be with people who are like them. If you suspect that their new friends are also using drugs or alcohol, your suspicions might be right.
