While Mohinder was approached by the mysterious man offering him a job working for The Company, he criticized any organization that took on the role of God and determined who could live and who should die. In a reversal, he is reminded that he at one point attempted to kill Sylar in Season 1 with a loaded gun to his head,
Hiro Nakamura finally meets his hero Takezo Kensei, who turns out to be heroic only when there is financial gain in the process for him, not to mention that he is British, not Japanese. Hiro realizes that in order to turn Kensei into the hero that he has looked up to since he was a child, that Hiro himself would have to get involved with the past.
Nathan Petrelli is driven to drink out of guilt for what he believes to be his role in his brother Peter's death, despite the fact that he saved the city that he was mayor of. His mother, on the other hand is disappointed that Nathan did not follow the plan which would destroy half of New York, but eventually lead to the greater good of mankind.
Claire Bennet struggles with her father's desire that she not stand out in order to keep her identity and that of her family hidden and her own impulses to be herself when she visits her new school. At the end of the day she is left empty. When she calls the only person who understands her emotions, her real father Nathan Petrelli, she is chastised from calling and discouraged from ever calling again.
Matt Parkman uses his ability for telepathy to advance to detective in the NYPD. Molly, the girl he saved early in Season 1 of Heroes, criticizes him for using his ability to his unfair advantage. Later he uses his ability to see the fearful person who Molly is seeing in her nightmares, and who she says can see her.
