CNBC's Morning Joe: Scarborough, Brezinski, and Burnett

Yoga, Caffeine, and the Morning News

Are you like me? Spending half an hour each morning multi-tasking before the computer screen with the television set on while doing an uninspired yoga routine? Forgot to mention the cup of coffee. The yoga routine gets an extra boost from the caffeine.

Yes, I'm aware of the contradictions, the collision between the daily cacophony of the world, the caffeine, and my inner peace. However, I must absorb the day's daily of dose of useful and useless knowledge so that I can go out into the world with the illusion that I am insulated and
protected somehow because I have "the news".

I need my "Morning Joe." MSNBC's "Morning Joe" features Joe Scarborough, Mikah Brezinski, and Willie Geist.

Willie Geist is the latest and welcome addition to the show. Pulled down from the production staff (producer for Carlson Tucker, later in the day), Geist has an intelligent and deadpan crossover manner which plays simultaneously to trend and tradition.

Scarborough is a Republican of a sort. I think he represents a disenchanted element of the "Reagan Revolution". To me, his politics seem to be all over the chart, but perhaps I am too simple-minded for the complexities of modern politics. If I had to identify the "Morning Joe" in terms of genus, species, and phylum, I would identify it as center-liberal-left.

Or perhaps left-liberal-center. Well, never mind! I'm not the only one these days who has difficulty defining the locus of politics in a time of issue disintegration and reformulation.

Mika Brezinski is another of the anchor persons on the Morning Joe. She's the daughter of Zbigniew Brezinski, former national security advisor under the Carter presidency. Sometimes I imagine that Mika was put on earth to make the other two morning news guys uncomfortable.

Mika found the lost chord of American television back in July of this year when she refused to do a story on Paris Hilton's release from jail. Not only did Ms. Brzezinski refuse, but she grabbed a cheap plastic cigarette lighter from co-host Willie Geist's pocket and proceeded to ignite the baloney script on live TV.

That's right Pat blame all of the systematic issues in CA on immigrants. Could some of the blame be the two term Governor? Naw, because he is a Republican and you are a jerk!!!

I am an avid watcher of the show but I am really sick of the off color racist remarks made by Pat. Everyone that is losing their home is not Black and doesn't sell drugs and rob people. What a jerk!!!!!

I was wondering the same. Was there a problem with that thing they did with her dad, Zbigniew Brezinski?

Hi Joe: I am a daily viewer of your program and I have sent the following idea to help homeowners and reduce the toxic debt but no one is listening. See if you have better luck. For the good of our nation.. I am a banker and WE NEED A DIFFERENT SOLUTION TO WHAT I AM SEEING: I would like to propose a possible one solution to the mortgage crisis: Offer Banks a new loan program via Fannie and Freddie: 1. 1% Loan fixed for 5 years on a 40 year amortization. Term 40 years. After 5 years the rate will be 1 year treasury + 1% 2. Only acceptable clients for this refinancing a) homeowners with negative equity on their loans and b) homeowners with an acceptable debt to income ratio at a 1% loan. (To qualify, the homeowner will have to be at 1% over 40 year loan). 3. If the homeowner is not being refinanced by his current bank, the bank from where the loan is being paid off will have to pay to the FDIC a 1% prepayment penalty for not accommodating this homeowner and also beca

are is a Rush Limbaugh look alike pregnant with tired arguments and divisive politics. Joe be for real, the truth is you can't really stand a smart person like Obama isn't it? But guess what your nieces and nephews and maybe your kids like the hell out of him and it's too late for you to feed them with hate. It's a new dawn in America and most Americans have moved on and will overcome this recession, and I hope these republicans including Joe Scarborough with their tried, tested and failed policies and tired arguments would eventually retire in a nursing home somewhere

I do not understand if part of the job description for the morning Joe show is to listen to Joe shot everybody up with first grade economics. This guy actually talks like he really believes he is making an intelligent point about the economy. No body in the Obama team knows how to fix the problem but Mr. Joe Scarborough. A loud mouth like this needs to be taken to school again and that is why solid academia like Mika's dad lives Joe in Lalas land every time and the only way he can defend himself is to be loud and offensive. Mr. Joe learn something: the entities of micro and macro economic policies are not an exact science, the only thing close to an exact science in finance and the economy may be financial mathematics. The government is a macro economic entity and has an economic role to play in the free market. The market has been free and your CEOs have run it into a ditch now it's time for you Joe Scarborough to shut the hell up. You pretend to be pragmatic but all you really are is

You make a good point. All the abstract ideas in the world are of little use when "two men came in and took your little girl." I"m reminded of that old saying: "Next time your life is in danger, don't call a cop--call a liberal."
