Like many women in this world, my mother was one of my very best friends. We shared everything together; we just understood each other beyond a mother-daughter relationship. My mother was diagnosed with brain cancer in August of 2005 and she recently ended her battle in May of this year. Of all the things she taught me in life, perhaps the most important were faith, laughter, family and love. Together we agree on many things about finding Mr. Right.

I found my Mr. Right finally after all the wrongs, and funny how I can laugh now at how simple it should have been because I had made it so difficult for so many years. I plan to share these with my daughters...I suggest you do the same.

1. He's not at the bar or club, but maybe a restaurant or through a friend.

2. Don't ever date a married man, regardless of the circumstance or what he may say.

3. Pay attention to how close he is with his family. If he hasn't spoken with them in years, then it may not be a good situation.

4. You don't need a man to make you feel whole. Don't settle and it's okay to be selective; you do the choosing. You don't want to end up miserable because you felt you needed to marry just anyone.

5. Find someone who laughs with you. Laughter and a good sense of humor is key in a good relationship and it will make the bad times not as bad.

6. Find someone who respects you for you and what you do. If you love your career, find someone who loves that you love your career.

7. Watch out for men who have bad tempers and are easily angered. Is that the dad you want for your children?

8. Don't rush getting married because you don't want to be single forever. Marry someone that enjoys the same things you enjoy, so you will have a fulfilling life together.

9. Don't ever marry a man who belittles you or humiliates you. That man has baggage you don't deserve to deal with.

10. Choose a man who treats his mother well because he'll probably treat you the same way.
