There are some important reasons to know why some people, such as Christians in America, do not celebrate Halloween Day. Personal beliefs and philosophy of life are among the broader reasons that will interest us.Many people need to know that Halloween is an observance celebrated on the night of October 31, yearly. It is normally demonstrated by dressing in costumes and going from places or door to door in a manner that represent a scary cheerful and friendly communication. We are to know that the Irish, Scots, or and others brought older versions of the tradition to North America in the 19th Century, but it has been a popular and institutionalized culture in America from the last century to the present. Because of the pop culture nature of this annual event, many (but not all) believe it is acceptable.
For some religious and philosophical people, the activities of Halloween associated with obtaining good fortune and foretelling the future is not scientific and divine in its nature. They will therefore reject the celebrations and ideas because they are associated with occult thinking and actions. The habit of predicting successful crop expectation for the year that follows, for example, and who in a community should marry who, are not realistic and acceptable through this method.
There is also the rejection of the idea behind writing down personal and individual weaknesses on a piece of paper and tossing it into a fire as a belief or means of getting rid of that weakness the weaknesses. Another unacceptable ritual historically associated with Halloween is the peeling of an apple and throwing the peel over one's shoulder and because that will reveal that person fortune. Yet another in this context, is the ritual habit of looking for omens or signs of death by visiting the churchyards on the night of Halloween so that someone can know the spirits of those who are going to pass away during the coming year because the spirits would walk around during that night and therefore give a sign.
