At the show's beginning, and with very little explanation, Dan finds himself in the late 1990s. Why you might ask? I can honestly say, I don't know although I tried desperately to figure it out during the course of the show. This is what I do know, Dan goes to sleep and wakes up in 1997. Dan finds himself in a bar, watching a sports game he saw years ago airing on a television screen. Dan is confused, but not overly so.
In keeping with the show's premise, I decided to make a journey of my own and switched channels. When I journeyed back, Dan is having martial and work problems. His journey through time has made him miss his story's deadline and his boss wonders if he is doing drugs. Dan's wife, Katie, visits Dan's brother, whom she used to date, and tries to see if he knows what is happening.
If readers have not figured it out by now, I had some problems with Journeyman. The most important one being that I felt that the premiere episode could have had been structured better and there could have been more explanations given. Why, on this particular day, and say not the day before, does Dan suddenly have the ability to jump around through time? Then there is Dan's long lost fiancée, played by Moon Bloodgood. I had the impression that she was dead, but to my surprise, she also has the ability to jump through time. So, that means she is still alive or never died?
