It seems to be a requisite for becoming a Republican power player that you have no earthly idea just how far out of touch you are with the multitudes of America. For the past six years plus we have sadly witnessed that the finger on the nuclear button belongs to a man who is clearly as delusional as any of the Napoleon Bonapartes currently roaming the slums of American cities. What is it about Republican politicians who think their mad ideology represents the base of America? Just in case you didn't hear, Newt Gingrich is now said to be seriously considering a run for the White House. Even at the height of the so-called Republican Revolution in 1994-1995 Newt Gingrich never had particularly high approval ratings. Since then he has led the impeachment of a President for lying about his sex life (while remaining curiously quiet about the two dozen or so impeachable offenses commited by Bush and Cheney), been proven to be a hypocrite by engaging in an extra-marital affair while leading that "Moral Crusade for Character", was discovered to have cheating his wife out of her rights while she lay barely conscious on her hospital bed, and appear to be absolutely no different in any significant way from the man currently in the White House whose approval ratings are at historic lows. Is it just me or does it seem to you that for anyone living under those circumstances to actually believe he has a shot at becoming President verges wildly off the path of the ludicrous and to crash in the big oak tree of psychotically delusional? I mean Newt Gingrich almost succeeds in making both George W. Bush and Iran's President look utterly lucid.

Almost.

End line: A President Newt would make our long-lost international coalition create signs placing his head on a lizard's body. ;)

Well, not to worry now: Newt's out of the Presidential run according to headlines this morning. Yes, Newt and Hillary seemed to be in collusion with one another--at least on health care for a while. The reason being is because Hillary decided to side with the pharmaceuticals and insurance companies once she understood that you can't reform them and that they're too powerful not to have on your side. But then Newt flip-flopped recently on Hillary's recent health care plan and said it goes back to relying too much on government. Outside of that, though, you have to give credit to Newt for being a critical thinker. He's had some arguably good thoughts on the war--especially his own opinion that an international dialogue needs to take place to get a better understanding of what we're doing and where we're going. He hasn't been 100% supportive of the war to say the least--which placed him in an independent bracket there for a while. Moreover: A President Newt would make our long-lost intern

Sometimes, Tim, a word is all the more powerful when used in the right context. But don't become too complacent about Newt, the far right still has alot of power to muster using the boogeymen of racism, immigrants, homosexuals, the ten commandments, and the war on christmas..

Yeah, I thought long and hard about including it. But I felt it was necessary to show the kind of people who live in Gingrich's Georgia heartland. And, before anyone gets offended over that statement, I speak from experience, having lived in Gingrich's district back in the 80s.

Personally, it doesn't bother me at all (it's just a word) but someone is probably going to get offended over the inclusion of the word "nigger" in an article that is also on the front page.
