You will usually see an anemone which is pink with yellow rounded tips. This is one of the most popular types of anemone that you can purchase. There's also an anemone which looks like it's missing all of its tentacles from the inside portion. There's often a circle in the middle of the anemone where the tentacles never grow. The tentacles grow on the outside portion of the anemone. This anemone is known as the Rock Anemone. It's a very interesting anemone because you see what is in the center. Usually you cannot see what is inside of the anemone.

This anemone is somewhat difficult to keep alive. You will need to have a canister filter with an adjustable power head than you can rotate to shoot water directly on the anemone. This is because the anemone requires a decent amount of water movement so that it does not get covered in algae and debris. If it gets covered in debris the tentacles will begin to rot off of the anemone. If you notice any algae hanging from the tentacles you will want to gently remove it. The tentacles on the Rock Anemone are also not as long as your typical anemone. They will be very stubby and short. Often times they will have a cylindrical appearance to them.

You will want to keep the temperature at around 72 to 76 degrees to keep the Rock Anemone alive. You will also want to keep the salinity at around 1.022 to 1.025. If you keep the temperature and salinity at the right level you will not have any problems. You will also need to add a few supplements to you tank in order to keep the Rock Anemone alive. You are going to have to purchase iodine and trace elements. If you only want to purchase these two supplements you can get other types of anemones as well as soft coral and polyps. You will then have all invertebrates or coral that requires the same supplements.

You will need to be careful when placing coral around this anemone. Often times if you place coral above the anemone and it falls over it will get stung by the anemone. You will want to space out coral at least a couple inches away from other types of coral and anemone.
