If you are looking to place coral in your tank but you do not want to purchase hard coral because it's very hard to keep alive then you will probably want to purchase some type of soft coral. The Yellow Sea Blade is a type of soft coral but it requires a lot of sand to root itself in. You will need to place at least five or six inches of sand at the bottom of the tank in order for the Yellow Sea Blade to anchor itself in the sand. It is somewhat easy to keep alive as long as you have enough substrate. You can place the Yellow Sea Blade in any location inside of your aquarium as long as it has a decent amount of light and water movement as well. If you want to produce more water movement in your saltwater tank you can purchase a wavemaker to shoot water on everything in your saltwater tank.

The Yellow Sea Blade comes in different colors such as tan and yellow. It requires a steady temperature of somewhere between 72 and 78 degrees. You will also need to keep the salinity at around 1.022 to 1.026. If you can keep the salinity and temperate at the right level you should have a problem keeping the Yellow Sea Blade alive as long as you add the supplements that it needs. It will need iodine, trace elements, strontium and calcium. Most of the soft corals will require all of these supplements. Polyps and anemones will only require iodine and trace elements. These supplements are about $6 per bottle and will last you at least a couple of months.

You can place the Yellow Sea Blade anywhere in your aquarium and not worry about it killing any other types of coral. With some anemones you need to be careful because they will sting the coral. The leaves on the Yellow Sea Blade are sometimes quite sharp so you might not want to place the coral in a high traffic area. Sometimes your fish might chase the other fish into the Yellow Sea Blade. I would suggest placing it towards one corner or the other on top of a level of your live rock.

The Yellow Sea Blade needs a number of different supplements added to the water once every three weeks.
