The Trolley Car Restaurant in Sheridan, Wyoming: A Review

My wife and I were filled with anticipation to dine at the Trolley Car Restaurant in Sheridan, Wyoming. We answered as telephone solicitation and bought a two for one card with the promise that after two visits the card would pay for itself. We lost money because we are never going back. Attached to the Sheridan Best Western, The Trolley Car Restaurant is mediocre at best. The food is poorly prepared and the service is deplorable. The free meal that we received did not account for the pain in the belly and the anger I felt at the service.

We arrived at the restaurant that was only half full. We waited for about five minutes before a waitress could be seen and were told that we had a big party coming and we had to sit by the kitchen. No problem there. We ordered a artichoke dip that was actually quite good. It was an ample serving that could be served as a meal. My wife and I both ordered steaks with a loaded potato and a salad. The salad arrived about fifteen minutes later and was a mixture of ice berg and Romaine. The ice berg was fresh but the Romaine was wilted. This was not so bad, but the cook actually hid the wilted lettuce under the good lettuce. Once we found this out, we almost lost our appetite

Our steaks arrived and on the outside they looked pretty good. The first bite changed everything. My steak was almost raw when I ordered it medium. My wife's steak had a hunk of fat in it the length of the steak. While she was cutting it, it actually congealed. I would have asked the waitress to take it back, but we didn't see her in the dining room for almost twenty minutes. We had ordered two glasses of wine twenty minute prior to that and still did not receive it. We finally went into the waitress station and took two to go boxes. Though the food was bad, our dogs would love it.

When the waitress finally saw us at the check out counter, she threw an attitude because she said the bartender was backed up, that is why we didn't get our wine. On the way out I looked into the bar and there was only one customer. There are many fine restaurants in Sheridan, Wyoming, but the Trolley Car is one to avoid at all costs.
