The need for traveling to your local video store is quickly diminishing. This first started with the introduction of Netflix to our homes, allowing a person to sign up online for a low monthly fee, and have movies delivered directly to their home.

However, even though this is an amazing service, the wait for movies to arrive in your mailbox became too long. Thus, the introduction of movies-on-demand through your Internet has become the next wave of movie-watching.

While, I'm sure, the notion of renting movies in such a manner has been around for quite some time, technology was lacking for many years. Yet, now, with ultra-fast Internet in the majority of people's homes, there are many new services allowing you to rent movies through the Internet and watch them directly on your computer screen.

If you have ever bought a book or CD online, than you have probably visited Amazon.com, because they have one of the Internet's largest selections of entertainment products, whether you are looking for books, DVD's, even Magazines, you can purchase them through Amazon.com.

Yet, Amazon.com has just added a new feature to their website, allowing you to download movies directly to your computer. This new service is called Amazon Unbox digital video download service. The Amazon Unbox comes directly after Apple announced they will be producing a new section to their iTunes store, the iTunes movie download service. Yet, Amazon Unbox has reached the masses first, but what exactly is Amazon Unbox offering?

Amazon Unbox is basically an online video rental store. Users will be able to rent thousands of DVD quality movies, TV shows and a plethora of other video content. You will be able to watch these movies directly on your computer or on your portable device, which gives this service an mass appeal. There are over 30 major studios and television networks that have agreed to take part in this service, thus allowing individuals to rent basically any movie or television show they desire.
