The Best New Organic Foods

When you hear someone discussing or mentioning organic food, vegetables and fruits immediately spring to mind. But it isn't just the produce aisle that claims jurisdiction over organically grown food. Now, you can find organic chocolate, coffee, meat, and snacks, among other products that you wouldn't normally expect to find under the organic umbrella.

The fact that all these everyday food items now have an increasing number of organic counterparts is a somewhat frightening aspect, because you are subsequently reminded that the non-organic version is likely loaded with chemicals and excessive additives and preservatives. Of course, we always knew much of our food probably contained a shopping list of unpronounceable ingredients, but many of us continued to eat in blissfully chosen ignorance.

But now, with an organic label staring us in the face, we are forced to face the fact that our ordinary food may be harmful to us, and organic is the way to go for a healthy lifestyle. However, having learned a few things during the low-carb craze, we know that many companies will eagerly slap an organic label on their product and raise the price, capitalizing on consumer fear and desire.

There are in fact different levels of 'organic' foods, as dictated by the FDA, and the false sense of security provided by an 'organic' label can have consumers spending more for products that bear little difference from the original.
