Vacations are supposed to be a time where you can leave all your worries and cares behind and just get away. However there are sometimes during a vacation where it is anything but this. I just returned from an eight day vacation in another state and I was thinking of a few different ways to prevent stresses on a vacation, that is the subject of this article.

1. Remember the small but very important things. The small important things are items that are very vital but also very easy to forget, examples would be your cell phone, cell phone charger, laptop charger, or digital camera.

2. Make a checklist of everything that has to be done prior to leaving on the vacation, because at the last minute you will be so busy that it will be very difficult just to remember everything that needed to be done much less actually do it.

3. Make a checklist of everything you need to have packed and ready to go, then before you leave make sure to go over that checklist. Of course you should make sure that the plane tickets are number one on that list!

4. Make reservations before you get there. As basic as it sounds there have been so many times where I have gone on family vacations and nobody even knows for sure where we are staying! Also try and keep in mind a second place to stay with their contact information just in case the hotel you arrive overbooks rooms or "never got" your reservations which has also happened to me.

5. Always make sure to get any arrangements for your pets taken care of. If you are taking them to a boarding kennel then make sure the kennel is going to have enough room during this time and just like your reservations keep a second boarding kennel in mind just in case. Also do research on wherever you decide to take your pet beforehand because sometimes their could be a lot of negative feed back that you don't know about. Of course if you just decide to leave them at home leave A LOT of food and even more water. Pets go through water a lot, especially during hot weather even when they are inside.
