In our daily life we come across fat men and women of unusually large proportions. We often wonder how they manage to accumulate so much fat all over the body. Some have huge deposits around the neck, some along the waist and others on the joints and belly. The quantity of deposits reaches astounding proportions. Sometimes this makes them all rounder with weight exceeding 300 lbs. They present the picture of a baby elephant or a mobile post office. Needless to say they provoke laughter by their mere looks and movements.

While such unwieldy bundles of living mass of flesh give us laughter we have to imagine the suffering they undergo. Their mobility is affected. They move like a locomotive pushed by hand. They throw their limbs in different directions while walking and face considerable resistance and reluctance in shifting their bodies from one place to another.

One such leviathan goes by car to a park located five miles away from home for a morning walk. He is jammed inside the car and he extricates himself from the back seat with great difficulty. That itself is a strenuous exercise for him. Then he moves forward for a walk.He finds it difficult to gain speed. The force of gravity and air resistance retard his speed. Some how he completes a few rounds of his mission.

The temptation of eating overpowers him. He does not wait for the breakfast or make any effort to regulate it. He is hungry and eats twice the normal quantity. His appetite prompts him to fill his belly to the outermost wall. Soon he becomes motionless like a python after making a meal of an antelope.

Why do such people store so much food in their belly when so many are starving? Is it because they consider the belly as a warehouse from which they can draw their food requirements as and when they want. Do they really enjoy eating? Excess fat limits the scope for exercise. It causes laziness unless determined efforts are made to dissolve it through strenuous and regular physical exercise. Diseases invade them. Blood pressure, diabetes, coronary diseses, arthritis and the like become their permanent companions.
