This is a question which has vexed man for an eternity. Although, some men have found the answer, to some Christians it is still a point of contention. They believe that the will of God is to do all of the commandments which he gave to the Hebrews. They believe that if a Christian performs good deeds to a reasonably decent standard they will be given access to Heaven. This is a slightly skewed interpretation of the Bible and the will of God. We must look at the Scriptures to understand the true will of God.

It is important that we understand what the law was and its purpose as well. The law was given to the Hebrew people through Moses and Aaron while they were wandering in the wilderness on their way to the Promised Land. God gave them his commandments knowing that they would not be able to perform them. These commandments were to be in their hearts, and their righteousness would not, could not be manifested in their flesh in the works of the law. The law was meant to be broken so that God could make men understand that they were not able to do it.

However, the Hebrew people were very stubborn and performed the law in the flesh keeping the commandments of God for the most part. Nevertheless, the law was given to them as a teacher and in turn they were to teach it to the world, to be to the world a guiding light. They simply would not admit that they could not keep the law and depended solely upon God for their salvation, which is what God was looking for.

When God gave the law he made it clear that if they did not do all of the commandments that they would be removed from their land and scattered among the Nations. This was actually prophetic, because it is exactly what happened in 70 AD. Jesus came to claim his Kingdom; however, Israel was not ready to give them selves over to the true King. This in turn opened up the way for the Gentiles to be granted access to the teaching of Christ Jesus.

Jesus told us to do as the Pharises said not as they did.I believe this is true today as it was then. In both cases the religious elite had good standards for following God, but there shortsightedness created by belief that they had the whole story leads to judgment.

Well written. Simple, and to the point. Thank God, that He is not willing that any should die without him (perish), but that everyone come to Him for forgiveness (repentence- turning from their sin, accepting his payment for our sins that keep us from God.) Good job.
