Gasoline is again over Three Dollars a gallon. We're just like everyone else and always lookin' fer a different way to conserve our precious few gallons in the budget. My cuzzin the Snow Queen, Uncle Gay and Aunt Rose, and several others have been tellin' us about a little place on the Sandusky River that has wonderful food and is fun place to go. We were off to the Tackle Box II.

The official address of the Tackle Box II is 420 Sandusky Ave, Fremont, Ohio. Give 'em a call at 419-334-4643. They are open from 11am till 11pm daily. We threaded our way down the long steep driveway from Sandusky Ave to reach this special little place. As we pulled up the hill towards the entrance I was rememberin' Hemingway's description of the fishin' village in "The Old Man and the Sea." The buildin' is a rustic weathered lookin' place.

We entered a dimly lit dining/bar room and immediately noticed a five foot tall parrot on a perch. The decor of this room is very eclectic and yet nostalgic. I wasn't sure if we would encounter Pat Daily or Jimmy Buffet if y'all know what I mean. The do have a bright sun room and an out door deck both overlookin' the scenic Sandusky River also. A Silver Fox holdin' a gatherin' of his harem next to the Boobie fountain on the deck this day. The Boobie fountain is a piece of art work that doesn't leave anything to your imagination.

The menu at Tackle Box 2 is simple one page affair but has diverse selections. A wide variety of munchies, several interestin' lookin' sandwiches and diners that are predominantly seafood. The fella at the next table was devourin' a monster veal sandwich that looked big enough fer two, his dinning companion was enthralled with a huge fried bologna sandwich. They shared a platter of river skins that looked big enough to feed several hungry fisherman. Our friends Fred and Frieda were leaving as we were about to order. Fred likes the hot wings and Freida loves the Lake Erie Perch.
