Batman & Robin the Boy Wonder. If you have never read a Batman comic book before this is a good stating point. Written by the well received Frank Miller (300, Sin City) and drawn by the great Jim Lee(X-Men, Batman) this book is a pleasure in almost every way. I say almost because it has been plagued with lateness. So late in fact that it has taken two year just for them to get to issue seven.

With that said each and ever issue has been fun and enjoyable...even if it is only about 22 pages of story and art. To get you up to speed on what the book is about I will give a brief synopsis of most of the issues (only seven so far)

First and for most, this is not an origin for The Batman, who in this tale loves to be calls the Goddamn Batman. This is the origin of Robin the Boy Wonder. Now I know what some of you are thinking. It is either Robin is a walking Bulls-eye or that he is just gay. But there is a lot more to the Boy Wonder, especially in this story.

It all starts one night as Viki Vale, a reporter, has a date with billionaire play boy Bruce Wayne. They go to a circus (I forget why) and there they see the Flying Grayson's. They are a high flying acrobatic family, but as one story would say the ropes had been cut and the family, save for young Richard Grayson, falls to there deaths, in this they a viciously gunned down by a sniper. The gunman scurries off and Bruce Wayne takes his leave.

At this point the cops are still very dirty. Instead of trying to capture the gunman they go after The Goddamn Batman who basically kidnaps Richard Grayson from the crime scene. The next issue is a joy as we see the young Dick Grayson not only cope with horrifying sight of his parents but also being with the Goddamn Batman. The kid is good. He is not afraid of him. He even sees through the Batman's voice. The kind says its bad imitation of Clint Eastwood. After roughing up the cops he later takes the kid to the Bat-cave and dumps him off to fend for himself with no food or water.

Brave for something to actually have the phrase Batman and Robin in the title, considering....
