If you are looking to add a little bit of decoration to your freshwater tank or you just want to make the tank look a little more natural and replicate nature, you can purchase a plant which is known as the Dwarf Hair Grass. The plant looks exactly like grass that you would find outside in your yard. This plant is a great choice for somebody who wants to purchase their first freshwater plant. This plant is very easy to care for and keep alive. This plants works great for adding decor to your tank and it will also provide your fish with different areas to hide.

These plants also work great for hiding baby fish as well as spawning purposes. The fish will have a little bit of privacy and the baby fish will not have to worry about getting eaten. These plants work great for many different purposes. This plant is fairly cheap and it will only cost you several dollars. You will usually get a plant which is pretty small but it will quickly grow larger. It will also start to spread through out your tank much like a pumpkin plant would do. Soon, your whole tank bottom will be covered with Dwarf Hair Grass and your fish will love it!

You can keep this plant at anywhere from 72 to 80 degrees. You will not have to worry about adding supplements like you would if you had a saltwater plant. These plants will require some type of freshwater plant fertilizer which can be purchased from your local pet store. Remember to purchase enough of fertilizer because all of your freshwater plants will need it to live and grow larger. With this grass you will not have to place the leaves back under the sand to get them to grow.

Even with freshwater plants you will want to have a good light for your freshwater tank. You can actually purchase replacement bulbs that you can purchase from the pet store. You will want to purchase the highest wattage bulb that will fit into your bulb assembly on your fish tank. You can actually remove your bulb and take it with you just to make sure that the new bulb will fit correctly and make sure that the prongs are the same and it's the same size as well. Then you will have no problems keeping all the freshwater plants alive which includes the Dwarf Hair Grass.
