Lamisil Oral Granules: The Novartis Solution to Ringworm in Children

Providing Resolution to Tinea Capitis

If your child suffers from skin irritations that lead to complications of dandruff, pain and itching of the scalp, you are probably all too familiar with the daily struggle this can lead to. In children who suffer from complications associated with skin irritations of the scalp, such as
that associated with tinea capitis, there is now a new treatment with FDA approval.

Lamisil Oral Granules, manufactured by Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corp., are now approved for the treatment of childhood ringworm of the scalp, also known as tinea capitis. Lending its successful trait to the ability to take the dosing in easy-to-swallow granules, Novartis is providing relief to many children across the United States with this new FDA approved product for children.

If your child, over the age of four, suffers from persistent ringworm of the scalp, and other prescription remedies have not proven successful, consult your pediatrician regarding the use of Lamisil Oral Granules. In a once-per-day dosing formula, your child can realize improvement in the pain and itching associated with this scalp irritation.

As with most FDA approved medications, the use of Lamisil Oral Granules may come with some side effects. When treating your child's ringworm, or tinea capitis, of the scalp the side effects most commonly seen are nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache and some abdominal pain. However, with dosing as a once-per-day formula, taken for six weeks, these side effects do not outweigh the benefits of using Lamisil Oral Granules for treatment.

Prescription medications, of any kind, should be carefully considered in children who suffer from co morbid health complications. In children who suffer from complications associated with diabetes, respiratory complications and complications of kidney or liver, the use of Lamisil Oral Granules should be carefully considered. While no serious side effects are known, any contraindications should be assessed and use of Lamisil Oral Granules should be evaluated in terms of the impact the anti-fungal may have upon the effectiveness of other medications.
