Race car lampshades are the perfect finishing touch in a little boy's bedroom. You can make a simple race car lampshade in a matter of minutes and with no sewing.

Let the kids help you make race car lampshade for their room. They will be proud of their handy work and it really will look great!

To Make a Race Car Lampshade You Will Need:

1 black lampshade

Hot glue

Yellow and white paint pens

Small race cars (metal or plastic)

This race car lampshade starts with a plain black lampshade. If you do not have a plain black lampshade you can paint out a white lampshade with a can of black spray paint.

Be sure to do this outside if you have to paint. You will also want to paint the race car lampshade in small layers of black paint. Heavy layers will cause the lampshade to ripple and warp.

Let any paint dry.

Now, break out those fabric paint pins. Use the yellow paint pen to draw dots and dashes like you would find on a read road on the racecar lampshade.

You can also use a white paint pen or fabric paint pen to outline the lanes of the road.

If you want you can also use a paint brush and liquid fabric paint to paint the lines and dashes on the roads on your racecar lampshade.

Once the fabric paint has dried you are ready to start attaching your small race cars or match box cars.

If you can find plastic races cars or matchbook cars, they will be best. Small metal cars are fine also, but you will need to use a little more glue.

Simply use clear epoxy glue and place a glob on the underside of the racecar. Press the car into place on the lampshade. You can use a fast drying epoxy glue to help speed up this process.

Another option is to use some masking tape and tape the cars into place while they dry onto the lampshade.

Use about five to ten races cars in various locations on the lampshade. Do not go overboard or your racecar lampshade will look too clutters. This can also make your race car themed lamp look top heavy.

Once the glue is dried on the race cars, then simple reattached you lampshade to your lamp and enjoy!

If you want you can paint the lines and dashes for the kids and then let them have fun glue in the racecars and match box cars onto the lampshade where they wish.
