Trying to find a low fat, low sugar cereal is no small feat. With literally dozens of cereals on the supermarket shelves to choose from, you would think that it would be easy to find a healthy cereal for yourself and for the rest of your family. However, many cereals are so packed full of sugar and empty calories that you would be better off serving them as a dessert, rather than as a nutritious breakfast item for yourself and your family.

Price

But on a recent shopping trip, I came across a 425g (15 oz) box of Toasted Whole Grain Oat Cereal by Tasteeos. The cereal closely resembled Cheerios in appearance and the packaging was also similar, which made me want to investigate further. It was on sale that day for $1.79. The appearance of the cereal coupled with the price appealed to me.

Whole Grain

As I looked at the front of the box, I was also impressed with what I read. It said: "Diets rich in whole-grain foods and other plant foods and low in total fat, saturated fat and cholesterol may help reduce the risk of heart disease and some cancers." To the left of this statement, I saw "Rich in whole grain". I chose a box of Toasted Whole Grain Oat Cereal by Tasteeos as it sounded like the type of cereal I would like. I had finally found what looked like the perfect cereal!

Taste

When I tried a bowl of Toasted Whole Grain Oat Cereal by Tasteeos I was not disappointed. I really liked the fact that it was not sugary. The cereal quickly filled me up. I also liked the crunchy taste. Unlike some cereals that soon become soggy once you add milk to the bowl, this cereal stayed crunchy for longer.

I've wondered about whether they are really "Cheerios" in disguise too. I think they taste the same, but my husband says he can really taste the difference. Sophie

Cheerios are a great breakfast alternative and dry snack for toddlers. These sound like a good, inexpensive alternative. (I can't believe the price of cereal these days.)

I love Cheerios and Cheerios imitations. For anyone dieting, they are a great diet food, too.

like the cheaper price!

Maybe these are a lower price version of Cheerios. Some companies make generic versions of their products. A marshmallow factory near where I used to live had many different labels for their product, and they were all made by Kraft. Great review!

This sounds like a good cereal for kids, and a good value too. I actually don't like Cheerios, but my daughter does. Thanks for the tip!

The reason I bought these was because they resembled Cheerio's! Sophie

These sound good. The box resembles a Cheerio box A LOT.
