The bag promises that the chips start from farm grown potatoes. The potatoes are cut in wavy slices. Lay's claims that this gives them a big crunch. It states that they are fried in sunflower oil. Lay's says that this brings out the potato flavor. Then salt and other seasonings are added.
The front of the package has a picture of a potato that transforms into sliced chips on it. It also had a picture of a bowl of ranch dressing and a green onion. Some of that green onion has been cut into little slices.
What the product offers:
The green coloring of the potato chip bag is attractive and is a color many people associate with the ranch flavoring. The yellow of the Lay's sun with the red Lay's banner shows well on the front and nicely blend in with the design of the bag.
When the bag of potato chips is opened, the smell is that of ranch flavored potato chips. There is no doubt that this is what the product is.
The chips themselves are wavy just as they state they will be when they are cut. The chips are definitely crunchy. This is a very good thing for potato chips.
The ranch flavor is strong, but not overpowering. It blends well with the potato chips. Of course, the little green flavor specks can be seen. That is always a plus.
A serving size is only 12 chips. This is not bad for eating with other meals or if you are just going to eat the chips in place of a meal. Snacking on these chips instead of eating a meal will mean that you can eat more of them. The fact that they are fried in sunflower oil makes them healthier than many other potato chips.
Is it worth it?
Yes, it is worth it. As long as a 12 ½ oz. bag does not retail for more than $4 to $5.
Comments:
The ranch flavor is definitely strong. If you are looking for a subtle ranch flavor, these are not the chips to buy.
