Most guys can't stand to be uncomfortable. Unlike their female counterparts who are willing to risk life and limb in the name of fashion, guys just aren't willing to strap on those 5 inch heels and strut their way through the busy city streets. However, just because men aren't willing to make certain sacrifices too look good doesn't mean that they are destined to be the unfashionable gender.

1) A Few Good T-Shirts

Every man should have a few good tshirts on hand to pair with a tailored suit or just jeans. And please don't think that a loose, ill fitting tshirt will be fine. By tshirt I'm talking about the snug fitting ones that really show off how much time you've put at the gym. (But speaking of which, please don't be one of those guys with the spandex see- through tshirts either. I would say that's going overboard and talk about gross.) Take the time and have some fun with this. American Apparel makes some tshirts that are incredibly comfortable and they come in a very wide range of colors. Maybe even show a little personality with your choice tees with funny slogans or a rock band.

2) A Dressy Button Down Shirt (DBDS)

If you're like most guys that I know, chances are you already have a million of these in your closet. You wear these for basically everything: interviews, parties, dates, social gatherings, etc. The good news is a DBDS is a very versatile piece that every guy needs. Paired with a pair of jeans/ khakis/ dress pants, the DBDS + a suitable bottom formula instantly takes you from sloppy to chic. The bad news is virtually every man on Earth uses this formula to approach social gatherings. Stick with the tucked in DBDS if you're going on an interview with blazer, but if you really want to stick out from the crowd during a night out on the town, be creative. One great look that some guys have effectively adopted is wearing their favorite tshirt over the DBDS. Roll up the sleeves to your DBDS up to the sleeve of your short sleeved tshirt. Leaving the shirt hanging out of your pants is often sloppy looking, so try tucking it in. Add a belt over your jeans to look polished. If you want to take it one step further, put on a blazer and you're ready to go.
