Decorating a Little Girls Room Fairyland-Themed

You have a little girl, and you want her to feel like her room is her own. It is the one place in the house that is truly hers. So you ask her what she would like her room to look like...She says she wants a fairyland.

How in the world to you create that? Well, realistic depends on how much money you want to spend, but it can be done.

Pick the paint

I went for yellow myself. Not bright yellow, but a soft yellow (but it is yellow, not cream). It looks like a sunny day when everything glows with a yellow tint because it is so bright outside. Of course you could pick another color or have someone paint a mural of grass near the bottom all the way to sky blue on the ceiling. I didn't take it that far.

Decorate the Walls

You want it to look like a fairyland, so that would mean flowers. Buy some flower shaped paint sponges and some different colored bottles of craft paint. Use the sponges all over the wall to give it a look of a flower field. You could also buy some butterfly sponges to add to the look. Next find some wall stickers. Try looking at craft stores like Michaels or places like Wal-Mart. Buy some stickers of fairies and put them in various places on the wall to make it look as though they are flying around the meadow. Your little girl is going to be excited by this point.

The Bed

Pick a bedspread that will go with your theme. Either a simple spread in a matching color that will not clash or something that would go along with the theme such as a flower spread would work. Also, buy a white princess drape to go over the bed. This, to some, is also called mosquito netting. I'm sure you've seen them in the stores.

Windows

Pick curtains that are wispy and flowing. For privacy at night, also install a window shade that can be pulled down whenever needed.
