Do you want to have the greatest Halloween party that will be the kick off to the holiday season? Ok...Here are some simple tips that will guarantee your party will be a success and that everyone will have a spooktacular time.

Make sure there is nothing out that could hurt. This especially holds true if this is a party for children. Now, how much money do you want to spend? Of course this will have some impact on the party, but you can pull it off.

Refreshments

Food is an important party of the Halloween party. There are two ways that you can go about this. You can go for the basic Halloween party food that you get at the grocery store like pumpkin and ghost cookies, cupcakes, and candy. Or you can go scary. If you want to go for the creepier food items look for my article that lists Halloween party recipes. Just remember, if it's for little kids, try not to make it too scary or your first Halloween party might be your last.

Decorations

Decorations are the key to any party, not just Halloween, but they are of the utmost importance to a Halloween party. Without them it is just a bunch of people eating and talking. For outside decoration tips, see my article on outside Halloween decorations. For inside, the same rule applies. Keep it simple.

I do not see a reason that you can't use spider webs inside your house. Find places where lamps glow in the corner and start hooking them to curtain rods, pictures, etc. Do not, however, hook them to the lamp. We don't want a fire.

Find a way to have the lights dim for the party...not trip over each other dim, but not daytime in the middle of the night either. There has to be a happy medium. Now add some scary music or sounds into the mix. Don't play it in the same room as the party though. Hook it up in another room where the guests won't be going. On a side note, if this party is for little kids, try not to make the music too scary...in fact you could go another direction and play the lighter songs like 'Monster Mash' and 'Purple People Eater'. This will make a party for younger kids go a little smoother.

For younger kids, you also cannot go wrong with streamers. Lots of orange and black streamers will make them smile.
