Traditional Scrapbooking Vs. Digital Scrapbooking

As a lover of scrapbooking, I watch all the new trends to see if there is something new I want to try. While traditional scrapbooking has been around for ages, digital scrapbooking is newer and gaining interest fast. What are the pros and cons of each?

Let us look at traditional scrapbooking first. It is versatile and allows you to do quick, simple pages or to let all your creativity run loose and do complicated or fancy pages. Or, you may just put your pictures on the page with whom, when and where written on the page somewhere. If you miss playing with scissors and stickers, traditional scrapbooking allows you to get back to the basics and do your own thing.

There are scrapbooking "crops" where like-minded people gather together and work on their scrapbooks. This offers you the opportunity to see other peoples pages and to purchase, on the spot, some paper or sticker you need. There is nothing more frustrating than to figure out what you want to do and then not have the right supplies on hand. I do Creative Memories and so my consultant is the one having the crop. She brings all her wares so we see everything new as it comes out and, of course, have the opportunity to purchase what we want without running all over town or the internet to try to find it. Sometimes you need something that the person next to you has and doesn't need. They will give it to you and again; no shopping! Also, we often share punches, patterned scissors, stickers, etc. Of course, you can do traditional scrapbooking in the convenience of your own home also.

The best part of crops is having people around to talk to as you work. If you want a help or an opinion on something, it is always available. The socializing with friends and sharing snacks as well as ideas and supplies makes traditional scrapbooking productive and fun.
