When Season 6 of Smallville wrapped up four months ago, many of the show's main characters were left in peril. On Thursday night, the Smallville Season 7 Premier picked up where Season 6 left off, answering some key questions and leaving fans hungry for more.

During last season's finale, Clark Kent (Tom Welling) and Bizarro, his unscrupulous carbon copy, got into a super-sized fight that resulted in Bizarro breaking through the wall of the local dam and flying away. In the opening scene of this season's premier, the rest of the dam bursts open, sending a tsunami like wave cascading towards town. Moments later, Clark catches up with Bizarro in a nearby forest and they continue to duke it out.

Meanwhile, Clark's enemy, Lex Luthor (Michael Rosenbaum), is caught up in the action at the dam. Sitting in a police car under arrest for the murder of his wife, Lana Lang (Kristin Kreuk), his car is picked up in the wave and submerged under water. As the water level rises inside the vehicle, Lex struggles to escape. Just before passing out, he spots a blonde, angelic figure in the water. Not much later, he finds himself safely on shore, presumably saved by that same mysterious figure.

In the midst of their forest fight, Clark lands a mighty punch that sends Bizarro flying off into the distance. More concerned with his friends than with finishing off Bizarro, Clark rushes back to the dam where he finds the tsunami wave barreling down the river. In one of Smallville's coolest special effects of late, Clark uses his heat vision to evaporate the gigantic wave, saving a nearby fisherman and his son from getting whisked away in the water.
