I have always had three different fish tanks. One of them has always been a saltwater tank, one has been a goldfish tank and one is a guppy tank. I have never had good experiences with guppies. I first started out with guppies by saving wild guppies from my boyfriend Red Tail Catfish. Since then, I have ended up with many guppies. Guppies like to be in groups but you have to keep at least 3 females to each male. Males are vicious and they will kill your females simply because they never leave them alone! Males will chase around your females all day long, not taking a break for anything.

As you can see this would quickly wear down a female guppy. If you are going to have a lot of guppies make sure that you have 3 times more females than males. Guppies will nip at each other and hurt each others fins as well. Wild guppies are far more worse than your average Fancy Guppies. If you keep all females in your fish tank you will never have any problems. I only have 10 females in a 10 gallon tank and they are very peaceful and enjoy each others company.

Comet goldfish are a lot like guppies only they do not chase just the females. If you place comet goldfish in with regular goldfish they will chase them around and nip at their fins. Eventually, all of your goldfish will end up stressed out and tired. Comet goldfish never give up either. They will constantly chase the goldfish around until eventually, the goldfish die, which is what happened to all of my goldfish. I had saved five comet goldfish from my boyfriends Red Tail Catfish and the comet goldfish killed all of my 3 year old goldfish. Whenever I would see a comet nipping at my goldfish I would catch it with a net and then go and feed it to the Red Tail Catfish to get even with the fish.
