Sour cream is the ideal topping for baked potatoes, added to a taco salad and in many other recipes that call for sour cream as a base for dips

Price

I usually like to add a dollop of sour cream to baked potatoes, finished off with some black pepper and sliced onion if I have some on hand as I like the way the sour cream melts into the piping hot potato. I always look out for fat free sour cream to use for meals, as I do not like to indulge too much in food that is high in fat and calories. Naturally Yours is a brand I have not tried before. It comes in a black and white container, resembling a cow's markings. It cost just $1.14 for a 454g (16 oz) tub of Fat Free Sour Cream by Naturally Yours.

Taste

When I got home, I put the sour cream to the test at dinnertime. After baking my potato and preparing the vegetables to go along with my meal, I added some Fat Free Sour Cream by Naturally Yours to the baked potato. I was expecting the sour cream to be creamy and rich, even though it was fat free. But it was thin and a bit on the runny side, rather than rich and creamy. The taste was also not as good as my normal brand. It lacked any real depth of taste. All I could think of was sour milk.

Nutrition Facts

According to the front of the tub of Fat Free Sour Cream by Naturally Yours, this product contains 67% less calories than regular sour cream and it is cholesterol free. These two factors were the main reasons I bought this brand of sour cream. Here is a summary of the nutrition facts for this product:

Serving Size 30g (2 tbsp)
Servings per container about 15
Calories 20 Calories from fat 0g

Total fat 0g

Trans fat 0g
Cholesterol 0mg
Sodium 35mg
Total carbohydrate 3g

The nutrition facts show that Fat Free Sour Cream by Naturally Yours is a low calorie, fat free food item with no trans fats or cholesterol in it. The sodium content is also very low per serving, which will be appealing to people who suffer from high blood pressure but who would still like to eat sour cream.

Interesting. Most of the fat and light are awful in sour creams around here.

This sounds like it could be good with a quesadilla and salsa. Great review!

This doesn't sound like a sour cream I would like. Sounds like SC needs a bit of fat in it to be good. :-)
