If you have custody of the child and have had child support arrangements ordered for the other parent to pay, you need to make sure that the other parent is paying on time and meeting the requirements that were set for them. If the parent is not, you will need to document it and talk to a lawyer about the next step that you need to take.
There are states that have programs and organizations that will help parents to get the added child support that they need and may even help them with determining the amount to ask for and all of the steps that they need to take.
Documents are important for you to have and you will need to keep track of everything that has to do with your child. If there are doctor bills that are not covered by the child support that you received, you will need documents of these along with any extra charge for taking the child back to the doctor.
