The Pros and Cons to This Competitive Sport

There's a lot of pros and cons to being in the sport of gymnastics and much of it is pretty simple because many children mostly girls start off as young as 6-7 years old. Yet many experts feel that some parents aren't really taking into consideration the child's physical development since this sport carries a lot of physical taxing on the body and most kids aren't used to the physical demands that the sport entails and these are the things that experts in the field feel that are the pros and cons of being in gymnastics. These are some pros that children benefit from when they participate in gymnastics:Pros of being in gymnastics
Children develop effective listening and interpersonal and teamwork skills.
Children learn to stay on task and to improve their ability to focus on something.
Children develop a positive self-image of themselves and building their self-confidence and self-esteem.
Children learn to think and process things independently as they engage in challenges like problem solving and other areas of solving things.
Children to improve their visual motor coordination and movement.
Children feel a sense of accomplishment and builds their confidence in themselves to succeed.
Coaches actually reinforce positive self-image and esteem among the atheletes
Coaches who tell their athletes to do their best performance and if they didnt do well encouraging them to do better next time with positive reinforcement and not criticizing them for the most petty and minute imperfections.
The school doesnt have a huge number of student drop outs and has a good reputation for building athletes by their talent and other factors like their commitment to their academics
Cons of being in gymnastics
Parents will pressure their child into elite gymnastic programs without regard to the child's physical development especially if she's still growing.
