Why Do People Hate Nickelback and is Chad Kroeger Really that Ugly?

Recently, while talking with my 20 year old son, I made the mistake of saying that I liked the band Nickelback. I also said that I thought their lead singer, Chad Kroeger, was attractive. My son responded with the statement, "he's a male prostitute" (he actually used a more explicit term that was made popular in the movie "Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo, but we won't use that term here). Images immediately starting flooding my mind that I wanted to delete.

His statement peaked my curiosity so I asked why he thought Chad Kroeger was a male prostitute. He began to recount all of Chad Kroeger's sexual indiscretions that he had either read about online, or had heard from someone else. Then I said, "so he really isn't a male prostitute, just very sexually active?" My son agreed that he wasn't really a male prostitute and that he was just being sarcastic. I was glad we had cleared that up.

He went on to berate Chad's band, Nickelback, saying that they were the worst band in the world. He said all of his friends would rather eat glass than listen to a Nickelback song. He then began to critique each and every Nickelback song ever written. When it was all over one thing was clear to me; my son hates Nickelback.

After seeing the passion with which my son delivered his opinion, I decided to do a little research on Chad. What I found was amazing. In spite of the enormous success of the band Nickelback, a huge number of people hate not only the band, but Chad Kroeger as well. It seems that you either love him, or you loathe him.

Not only do many people not like the poor man, but they go so far as to say he is ugly. He has repeatedly been voted rock music's ugliest man in various polls. In 2006 he was also number six on ThePhoenix.com's list of the "100 Unsexiest Men in the World". Here is the actual entry from their site:
