It's 2007 Football Season, and that means it's time for card collectors to start to look for this year's releases. Over sixteen sets were already released by the time the first game started this year. 2007 Topps Chrome is taking a step back from previous years. Topps Chrome Football cards used to be one of the "busier" sets of football cards to be released. Topps tried to make all their cards have chrome versions in previous seasons and instead of attracting consumers ended up turning many of them off. This year there are fewer parallels and fewer veteran cards as well which makes 2007 Topps Chrome Football a more collectible set.

The Base Set And Parallels

As mentioned above the base set is composed of fewer cards this year for 2007 Topps Chrome Football cards. There are just 165 veteran cards in this year's set. There are the popular refractors for veteran cards as well. One with standard borders are unnumbered and ones with white borders are more limited numbered to 899 for each player.

There are 110 rookies in this year's set of 2007 Topps Chrome Football cards. On average you will find one rookie card in every other pack of cards in your box. The refractors are the same as they are with veterans having unnumbered versions and white bordered numbered to 899.

Autographed and Insert Cards

Almost half of the rookies featured in the 2007 Topps Chrome Football card set have autographed versions of their cards. Most of these are unnumbered which might turn off some collectors, but there are the white bordered ones once again which are numbered to just 50 each. Rookies aren't the only autographed cards in the set. There are 25 current and former NFL stars with autographed cards, and also a very limited set of 31 cards celebrating LaDainian Tomlinson's 2006 record 31 rushing touchdowns. These are truly limited though as there are only 31 cards, one produced for each of his 31 touchdowns.

Takeaways
  • Topps Chrome has stepped back on the number of inserts and overuse of the chrome technology.
  • The value of these cards are moderate, but can be a very good value if you get a nice autograph.
  • On average you will receive one autographed rookie per box.
