I like good meals. While I enjoy sandwiches and chips with a little fruit or a "finger cake", I still enjoy a chicken leg and mashed potatoes and slaw, or, any meal like that; even for lunch. The trouble is that good meals are hard to make if you have limited cooking skills, plus, typically, families don't keep complete-type meal "fixings" around to be used at any time.I found a product that is simply amazing. "Hormel Compleats Roast Beef & Gravy with Mashed Potatoes" is, as the name suggests, a complete meal, and, it is out of this world. It is primarily a dish designed to be cooked in the microwave.
Hormel is a brand that has introduced a lot of fine food, but, in this case, they have outdone themselves.
"Hormel Compleats Roast Beef and Gravy with Mashed Potatoes" costs only about $2.00. Essentially it is a single serving of roast beef and mashed potatoes.
This product is not made for the conventional oven. It can be boiled, but, the preferable method is to use the microwave. Simply remove the outside cardboard holder; then puncture the cellophane wrap which covers the food a couple of times; finally, cook for about 90 seconds. After this is done, let the dish stand for about one minute. Once you remove the covering, you can eat from the container or remove to a regular plate; then, salt and pepper to taste; add any side dishes and enjoy.
If you wished to boil the meal, you would simply place in boiling water; simmering for 6-9 minutes and then letting the food stand for about one minute.
What you have with this meal is some very good and substantial food. It can be used for a good lunch but is certainly complete enough for a dinner, and, a very good one at that.
The really good news in addition to the cost; is that there are only 230 calories per serving of which are 30 from fat. Further, there are only three grams of fat of which half are saturated. That is amazing for this type of meal!
As I said earlier, one of the nice things about this product is that you have your meat and potato; now, all you have to add is a fruit and vegetable to have a great complete meal.
