Most of us have at some point or another in our search for the perfect someone, wondered if soul mates exist. We have wondered if fate plays a hand in bringing together perfect lovers. We would like to believe soul mates exist and that fate will bring us the perfect mate whose purpose in life, creating our happiness, was predestined by the universe. It's only a matter of time. Hollywood banks on that emotion. Movies like 'Serendipity" and "The Lake House" and "Only You" tantalize us with tales of would be lovers who are destined to meet, to fall in love and to live happily ever after. We dream of the day that our own lives are touched by such magic. We dream of that perfect someone, out there somewhere. Is he staring up at the stars wondering what we are thinking? Will he bump into us in traffic, ruining our morning, but completing our lives? Why hasn't he found us yet? Does he even exist?

Sadly, it's more likely that such a person does not now and never will exist. While the magic of a new relationship is wonderful, there is a reason that with very few exceptions, romantic movies end when the couple gets together. That's not to say that we can't all experience the incredible love story found in "The Notebook", but rather to say that the practicality of fate intervening in our romantic lives is unfathomable. As difficult as it can be to stare deep into the practical nature of romance, there is value in realizing the realistic rather than the dream.

Takeaways
  • Our lives are not dictated by fate
  • Fate filled romance is the dream, not the reality
  • There are lots of matches out there for us. Be patient, and be yourself!

Great article. I have asked myself this question over and over again. I believe no man or woman is perfect we all have issues we just have to choose what we can deal with.
