There is Music in Literature
Embed:
There is a saying, "as civilization advances poetry declines". This is probably due to people getting too busy so that they do not have time for imagination, embellishment and creativity. It is also likely that this thought has invaded literature in recent times. Thus we do not have flowery language in richness and depth as we had in the earlier centuries. In good old days language echoed music and while reading one could feel it intensely. We have a few examples of this treasure of musical language. Swami Vivekananda, Sir Winston Churchill, Dr.Arthur Bryant, Napleon were some of the great personalities who provided music in language. Readers enjoy reading their works and the musical touch in them. These are given below.
"If the Indian Ocean were an ink stand, the highest mountain of the Himalayas the pen, the earth the scroll, and time itself the writer, still it will not express any gratitude to you".
(Extract from a letter the Swami wrote to the Raja of Khetri)
Swami Vivekananda
"In him I have lost a friend true as steel, a disciple of never failing devotion, a worker who knew not what tiring was, and the world is less rich by one of those who are born, as it were, to live only for others".
(Tribute to a close friend on his demise)
