With all of the store bought and easily attainable Halloween costumes out there it is very common to have either you or your children dress up and end up looking just like a bunch of other people. An easy way to prevent this from happening is making your costume at home. This way the costume is uniquely yours, plus sometimes home made costumes are good for the last minute since some can be made from things just laying around the house. My reason for writing this article was just to put together a few different cool costume ideas that you can do at home.

1. One of the neatest ideas I heard of was a friend of mine who dressed up as a Rubik's cube one year. She wore a box that she painted like a Rubik's cube and it was so awesome looking.

2. One year I decided just for a few laughs to do the sheet ghost thing. You would actually be surprised at what a hit that was. All you have to do is cut out eyes into a sheet and there you go. It's perfect for the last minute and people will think that it's a clever way to make a joke.

3. Taking from the Rubik's cube idea you could also go as a pair of dice if you can find a buddy. If you can't find someone you could do it alone too.

4. One really cool Halloween costume that I would love to have and that I haven't seen for sale anywhere is Bloodrayne. I know you have to make that one from home but I'm not sure how as of yet. I just think it's a really awesome idea.

5. One I saw that I thought was kind of cool was someone who wrapped themselves in wrapping paper and put on a bow so that they could go as a present.

6. If you can get a a Blondie wig and a white dress you could be the beautiful Marilyn Monroe.

7. You could also easily make a cat costume. All you need is a black bathing suit or all black outfit, some cardboard and a headband to make the ears, black paint, or some pipe cleaner or string to make the tail. Cut the ears out of the cardboard, paint them, and then glue them to the headband. The pipe cleaners would be best to use to make the tail since you can shape them the way you want.
