The name of this software is Librarian Pro, and in my mind, it really is just about the best of all worlds. So many of the cataloging applications available today are genre-specific. For example, a popular line of programs consists of DVDpedia, Bookpedia, CDpedia and Gamepedia. It's fairly obvious from each program's name exactly what category each program is designed to catalog. Still, since the idea behind cataloging a category of items (whether it's music, movies or video games), is so similar, and the information about each so similar, it seems silly to needlessly split up the categories.
Librarian Pro can catalog them all, from Books and Movies and Music, to PC Hardware, Software and Video Games! All these categories can be cataloged in the same neat interface, using the same set of tools.
Adding items to your collection is a snap. Simply click the New Item button in the toolbar and select which category you'd like to enter into. To add a book, all you need to do is type in the title of the book, and adding the author is helpful too (although not necessary). You'll see from the form you're filling out that Librarian Pro keeps track of a LOT of information about each item, but don't worry... you won't have to enter that by hand, unless you want to.
Because do you see that Amazon.com icon in the upper-right corner of the window? Click it, and up pops a small dialog, which begins searching your local Amazon store for the information you've already typed in. Once it spits out its results, all you need to do is click on the correct one, and that information is magically entered into the item you started. Everything, from number of pages, original publication date, cover art and even up to five reviews is included in the entry. When you're satisfied, simply hit Apple-S to save the entry, and it's finished!
