Are you one of those people who cannot lose wight no matter how many calories you count, or crunches you do? Are you tired all of the time, cannot think clearly? If you answered "yes", than it may not be your fault at all.

I have been struggling with knowing I had low blood sugar, yet the doctors cannot catch it. I have been poked and had the blood sucked out of me, for my Doctor to tell me "All the tests are normal". How can this be normal and I KNOW that I am not?!

Well, then you get to the questions they ask...." Do you feel depressed". How about getting a slap in the face for actually trying to find out what is wrong with me? "No, I am not depressed, but after coming into you office for a year now,and being told I have nothing wrong with me, I think you are leading me down that road now."

Then something hit me like a volt of lightening. My friend was telling me about how she has to take a medication for diabetics. I asked her how can you not be Diabetic, yet you are on the same meds.? She explained that she has Insulin Resistance. Well, I hear the word insulin and think, Diabetes. Not the case.

Insulin resistance is when your body produces more insulin that what it can use. It then stores it as fat, and calls for you body to make more, instead of utilizing it properly.

So, once again I went to my doctor, and I asked her "Can you test me for Insulin resistance?" She explained that even though she had checked my A1C( a test for your sugar levels), that she has never checked my insulin levels and it is a test that cannot be combined during other testing. So, as I waived goodbye to yet another tube of blood, I held my breath for 3 days until he results came back.

I get the phone call I was waiting for. From the words of my doctor..." You are right. It is not your fault you are fat! You are Insulin Resistant. You levels should be 15 or under, and you are at 47, that is more than 3 times the amount of insulin your body needs, I am calling you in a prescription now."

What at relief!! I have never been so happy in my life to have someone tell me I have something wrong medically. Now I have answers.
