I find I need a small, pocked sized calculator for two reasons: to keep track of my shopping purchases, and to use in my small business. In fact, I own several, but the best by far is my 
Radio Shack 8-Digit LCD Dual-Powered Pocket Calculator. It is slim and small enough to easily slip into a shirt pocket, purse or briefcase. It measures just 3.35 inches long, 2.17 inches wide, and .22 inches deep, and it only weighs 1.06 ounces!!
Although it does use a cell button battery, it is dual-powered, so it gives long lasting performance. When it is in bright light, it will operate on solar power, but as soon as the light source dims, it reverts back to battery power. The solar power panel consists of four 1/4" square boxes, located directly above the LCD screen.
I love the larger numbers, they are very easy to read, and at age 51, my eyes aren't as good as they used to be! The face plate is made of an aluminum like material, which makes this seem much more expensive than the $8.00 retail price. It looks much nicer than my plastic calculators, and the aluminum adds an air of sophistication to the unit.
This pocket calculator also comes with a nice thin billfold case. The calculator is connected to the case and cannot be removed. The right side of the vinyl case has a handy pocket for holding piece of paper to take notes, write down telephone numbers, or other such purposes.

I have numerous calculators around the house. I have desk top adding machines, and small calculators of various sizes. This Radio Shack product is my all time favorite.
I have long nails, and some of my pocket sized calculators have numbers that are harder to press. The Radio Shack model has shallow, rubber numbers that press very easily. The numbers are spaced nicely, and although I have small hands, I think anyone with larger hands would still find this calculator easy to use.
