Smallville Season Premiere Episode

Season 7 Kicks Off with Power

The hit CW network program, Smallville, returned to action this past Thursday night with the exciting premiere of Season Seven. As faithful viewers of the program knows we left our hero, future Superman Clark Kent, as he faced off against another Phantom
Zone criminal. Last season he fought, and captured, several escaped Phantom Zone criminals, including the WWE's Batista, Kane, and rap star Bow Wow. The Phantom Zone, as comic purists will know, was a way Kryptonians imprisoned their criminals. Clark Kent, the last survivor of the planet Krypton, was sent by his father, Jor-El, to safety on Earth as their home planet was destroyed. Jor-El had discovered the Phantom Zone and the planet began using it as a way of imprisoning their criminals, indefinately, at no cost to their government. When Clark was himself imprisoned in the Phantom Zone at the end of Season 5, a former assistant of his father's helped him to escape, but several criminals also escaped.

Most of Season 6 was taken up with episodes in which Clark encountered these criminals and either defeated them or sent them back into the Phantom Zone. The final criminal he was to encounter would be a creation by Kryptonian scientists that was discarded. This creation needed the DNA of a Kryptonian to survive, in the meantime it merely fed on human beings while searching for a host. Clark finally had a show down with this criminal in the secret lab of Lex Luthor, series evil genius and comic book master criminal, situated in the Smallville, Kansas location known as Reeves' Dam, a salute to the late Christopher Reeve who played Superman and Clark Kent in the four movie series in the 1970s and 1980s. There the two faced off and the Zone criminal finally had his hands on some Kryptonian DNA.
