The Rival 1042W Electric Food Slicer plays a very significant role in my kitchen and it has been serving me for the past 8 months without any grudges. In the beginning there was lot of teething problems in getting adjusted to the way it works. Initially I was not satisfied with its performance and feared that it to be a rather impulse purchase. In course of time I tamed it and now it works pretty well. I learned from my mistakes and understood how to operate it efficiently and get the things done.

To begin with this is a very basic electric food slicer with no frills attached. This is designed to handle light weight kitchen operations only. So do not expect it to work like those sophisticated slicers that come with advanced technology and a host of features attached to it. Remember that you are paying just $35 and not $400 to yearn for those high end premium performing machines. However the Rival 1042W is enough for a small family. It is ideal for those who desire to make sausage, hamburger and roasted steak at home occasionally. I use it twice a month and hence not sure whether it can be run for slicing meat regularly.

Going by the construction, I don't think it would pose any problem in chopping vegetables frequently. This is powered by a 75 watt motor that does justice to this smart kitchen mate. The makers claim that it to dice vegetables, fruits, meat, pastries and bread accurately without disintegrating them. I am of the view that this is crafted to chop fruits and vegetables without hassles. For slicing meat, it is advisable them to refrigerate and then introduce it in the equipment. It takes almost the same amount of time you need to slice a meat with conventional knife. Bu the advantage of using this cutter is that the meats can be cubed with relatively uniform thickness.
