When it's October, my family starts digging out our Halloween movies to get in the festive mood. Since I have younger children, I don't like to watch scary movies during this spooky time of year. There are many kid friendly Halloween cartoons & movies that won't scare your child, here is a list of a few of our favorites.

Halloween Movies for Kids #1: Scary Godmother Halloween Spooktacular & Scary Godmother: The Revenge of Jimmy

Don't be put off by the name. Scary Godmother is far from scary. It's one of the cutest and fun Halloween children's movie that you'll have the pleasure of viewing. Scary Godmother is based on the comic and children's works of Jill Thompson. The first Scary Godmother is about Hannah who is being babysat by her bully of a cousin Jimmy, along with three of his friends. Jimmy is a big meanie who thinks of ways to scare his cousin Hannah. He sends her into a creepy house by herself where she meets Scary Godmother who shows her that Halloween is not about scary stuff, but good clean fun. In Scary Godmother: The Revenge of Jimmy, Jimmy tries to ruin Halloween for everyone by destroying things but Scary Godmother and Hannah come up with alternative solutions for Halloween and the day is saved.

Halloween Movies For Kids #2: Halloweentown movies 1 through 4

There are four Halloweentown movies. First is Halloweentown, then Halloweentown II: Kalabar's Revenge, Halloweentown High and Halloweentown High. The Piper family are all witches and in the first movie, the Mother does not want her children practicing magic, much to the dismay of Grandma Aggie. As you can image, excitement occurs and they have to use their magic to survive. Throughout the rest of the movies, Marnie grows into quite the young witch. The first three movies are very good and are sure to draw the attention of adults and children alike. I have to be honest, the last Halloweentown movie is not one of my favorites. They replaced the actress who played Marnie because the original Marnie was not available at the time. The actress who plays Marnie in the last movie is good in other films but her portraying Marnie in number four made it fall a little flat.
