If running five miles isn't your cup of tea, think of what you do enjoy. If you like dancing, look at what classes your Y or community college offer. If you've always though belly dancing was exotic and sexy, grab your best friend and sign up for a six-week session. Want to feel more empowered? Look if there is a self-defense class or a beginner's martial arts series.
If you love hitting the clubs, head out with the lady's for a night on the town. Stick with sparkling water and lemon to avoid excess carbs and dance the night away. If you're home alone, blare the radio and dance around the apartment. Are you a video game addict? Pick up a game like Dance Dance Revolution and try to outscore yourself. The hours will fly by and you can even choose the setting to count your estimated calories burned based on your weight, height and intensity level.
If you love children, volunteer for an after school program. Chasing kids around on the playground for an hour everyday is easily the equivalent as a session at the gym. Take your nephew to fly a kite, or take your neighbor's daughter to the park and play on the swings.
Are you a nature buff? Check if there are any hiking trails next to you. Grab a friend and hit the trails. It's easy to lose track of time, and you'll be out in nature. Head to the beach for day of fun in the sun. Pack your volleyball or Frisbee, or simply take a stroll along the beach. Walking in sand is an incredible and intense workout. Sign up for a surfing class or learn to rock climb.
