How to put this plainly? It is a movie about all the negative views of love. And if you do perform love correctly you'll end up losing. Feast of Love.
I like Morgan Freeman and Greg Kinnear. I really do. But this movie fails on so many things. It fails at humanity and being worthy of a story that should be told. It's a depressing tale that doesn't have an upbeat moment. There is hardly any humor in it. The humor it does have, though, is pretty good.
The decent parts are when Freeman talks to his wife and when the young couple first meets in the coffee shop. That's it. The rest of the movie drags on and on and on, force feeding the idea that life sucks and most people just push on through the suck looking for mere moments of joy that show them that it was all worth it. Gross.
One of the worst scenes is when a cheating couple is nude and arguing. I cannot, under any circumstances, take nude people seriously. Things are jiggling about and it's distracting. How can anyone take a nude person seriously? The sex scenes were horrible. They were pointless as prattle. If they removed those scenes alone the movie would be at a reasonable length.
It was one of those movies I felt were a waste of time. Feast of Love is not a movie I would ever want to see again and I would not recommend it to anyone unless that anyone is someone that loves to see people in horrible situations...then and only then will someone actually 'love' a movie that doesn't give a care what real love is about. It may have been called Feast of Love but it was a movie starved from it.
