Last Night's Episode of Sunset Tan

The Olly Girls Fired?

One of my guiltiest pleasures on Sunday nights is watching Sunset Tan. I'm not usually one to get into these reality shows, but I some how got sucked into this one.

One of the things that originally drew me into the show was Holly and Molly who are better known as the Olly girls. These girls are as dumb as rocks, but that is why the show is such a guilty pleasure for me. I get off on the anticipation of what their next stupid move or stupid thing that is going to come out of their mouths.

Last nights episode really surprised me when the final scene was Jeff and Devin sitting in a conference with the Olly girls. Devin and Jeff tried to soften the blow by telling the girls they were going to have to let them go. By no surprise to the audience the girls asked "Go where"? Leaving Devin with no choice to put it bluntly and say "YOU'RE FIRED!!"

I know I shouldn't have been surprised by this because in the world I live in the girls would have been fired a long time ago. For some reason I just thought that Ania would be the one who would be fired first. I checked on some viewers reactions this morning and read that is what most people thought as well. When it comes to the Olly girls there is quite a mix of opinion on how people really feel about them. Some people love them and others despise them and truly feel that they are a waste of human air.

Now the question is can the show survive without the Olly girls? For a small percentage of people they think the answer is no. The thing is that Sunset Tan is a real business that just happens to have its own reality show. So the more important question is will the business do better without them? Maybe Jeff and Devin finally realized that TV shows don't last forever. Even though the Olly girls may have increased television viewers, they weren't helping customers take Sunset Tan seriously. The bottom line is they had to make a serious business decision not one based on ratings. Besides, the whole show didn't revolve around the Olly girls any way. Sure the stupidity factor will drop, but the drama factor will remain the same.
